The small print
Editorial policy
Where the facts on rid-x.org come from, how the maker's claims are kept apart from ours, what we will not promise, and how to report a mistake.
Every page on rid-x.org is written by the editors of this guide. Here is how a fact gets onto a page.
Facts about the products
Doses, tank sizes, bottle and box sizes, pack counts and supply lengths are taken from the label, the product data and the photos of each pack, one product at a time. A figure printed for one product is never carried over to another: if a bottle does not state a tank size, its page prints none.
What the maker says about its products, such as natural bacteria, the most powerful formula or 2x more waste reduction, is quoted as the maker's claim. We have not tested any Rid-X product, and we do not present a claim as a result. Photographs show the products and their packs as they are sold.
Public sources
What we say about additives, pumping, holding tank chemicals and well water comes from the EPA, university extension services, state and county health departments and the CDC. Every source was read before it was cited, the guides link to each one, and a figure appears only as the source prints it, with its year.
What we do not claim
We do not speak for the maker of Rid-X. We do not promise that a treatment will cut sludge, stop odors, delay a pump-out or fix a failing system, and we do not tell you how to diagnose a tank. A backup, a wet drainfield or a sewage smell is a job for a licensed septic professional.
Corrections
If a figure, a price or a sentence here is wrong, write to tankdesk@rid-x.org. We fix the page and the product data behind it.
